Netizens get their hearts melted over a friendship of a man and a dog. This is a story of a mailman and a rescue dog who is winning over the internet.

A mailman does his typical routine doing his job, delivering mails around the neighborhood. However, as he continues doing his task as a mailman, he developed a unique friendship with a rescue dog who is staying in one of the homes where he delivers mails.

He used to deliver treats to the elderly rescue dog. Unfortunately, the pooch passed away which left the mailman heartbroken. His daughter posted the update on the internet.

Gretchen, the dog, passed away, so her owner Chris Cimino sent a letter to Fernando Barboza, the kindhearted mailman. Cimino mentioned that Gretchen loved seeing Barboza when he comes at their door and she also looks so happy whenever she gets treats from him.

Gretchen wasn’t able to finish the treats so Cimino requested Barboza if he can share the snacks with the other dogs in the neighborhood instead. Gretchen has been with Cimino’s family since 2013. Although the pooch felt distant at first, she grew up and became an adorable, sweet dog to people around her.

Gretchen doesn’t trust other people besides her family, Cimino added. However, Barboza seemed to be an exception because he was always “visiting” her and bringing her treats.

Because of Barboza’s persistence, Gretchen learned to trust him, and she even grew fond of the mailman. She’s always excited to see him. Also during days when Barboza didn’t bring any teats, he still greets the dog as an expression of friendship.

Gretchen also looks jealous if she sees Barboza delivering a package to other people. Their friendship just grew strong over the years.

The dog suffered from neuropathic disease for a long time. Cimino wanted to tell Barboza about Gretchen’s situation, but he couldn’t bring himself to say it personally. He decided to just leave the treats with a note explaining the incident.

With all the positive response of netizens, Barboza simply wanted to tell people to adopt elderly dogs. One will never know what beautiful friendship they can build with it.

Special thanks to Barboza’s daughter for posting this on Twitter!
