When Lee Asher met Lala the shelter dog, she was cowering under a table. She was shaking and trying to make herself as small as possible. It was a difficult feat for someone of her size. But despite the fear she was showing, Lee found her adorable and he immediately knew that he was going to bring her home and take care of her.

Lee is known for his passion for rescuing shelter animals. He has even quit his day job so he could take care of them full time. Although he has more than 10 dogs under his care already, he is still on the lookout for canines that needs his help.

Lala

On the day that Lee met Lala, he was visiting the shelter to check out the dogs there. He was intrigued by the dog who was trembling in fear and wanted to get to know her better. The shelter staff told her that the dog avoided human touch like the plague. It took them almost a week before they could rub her head.

Even then, they could sense that she became agitated and stressed.

That is why Lee decided to take it slow. He let Lala get used to his presence first. He stayed in the room with her and took his time to get near her. The kind man gently talked to the dog and moved closer inch by inch while sitting on the floor.

Eventually, he was close enough to reach out and rub her chin. Amazingly, the dog did not budge or shirk away. The staff was astounded to see that the dog reacted positively to the man. After interacting for several more minutes, he put a leash on the dog to see if she would go with him.

Lee took the leash off and put it back on several times before Lala understood and happily followed him. When they got to his car, she jumped right in. They then went straight to the Asher House in Oregon.

Team Lee

When Lala got to her new home, she was very excited. She met the bunch of dogs living there and she quickly made friends. She became part of the pack almost immediately.

For the next few days, Lala transformed into a carefree and fun-loving dog. She goes with the pack on hiking, swimming, and numerous other adventures. Long gone is the scared dog that shivers at the sight of humans.
