A recent Twitter thread went viral because of a touching tale of serendipity involving a woman and a dog who kept hanging out at her yard. Kate Howard, who works for the Kentucky Center for Investigative Reporting, shared a sweet story about a dog on social media. According to Kate, it all happened one day, as she sat at the porch of her new house after attending a friend’s memorial service.
While she relaxed, a dog came out of nowhere and sprawled down her yard. Kate described the dog as “charming” – she just stayed there and kept Kate company for some time. Later, the owner came to pick up the dog, whose name is Winnie. When the owner called out the dog’s name, something sparked inside Kate – the name sounds familiar!
According to Kate, she once fostered a puppy named Winnie. As she remembers it, she said they spent one whole day together. She said she loved being with the cute puppy. Kate added that she felt sad returning Winnie to the shelter – anxious about what will happen next for the pup.
Kate, curious about her guest, asked the owner if she adopted Winnie. The dog’s owner nodded and said her original name is “Winnie.” She did not want to confuse the dog – hence retaining her name. At that point, Kate could not believe what she’s hearing. She lept off the porch and squealed: “I fostered this dog!”
Kate found out that Winnie’s owner lives nearby – approximately a block away from her place. Of all the days, Kate could not believe Winnie ran to her on that particular one. She explained that it had been an emotional day for her. She attended a dear friend’s funeral – a friend, who by the way, is a big dog lover.
Kate shared this extraordinary story online to emphasize the strong connection a dog has to its foster family. Kate said she felt super sad that day and was not expecting anything that can brighten up her mood. But Winnie, her former foster dog, found her and made sure she feels comforted after feeling the loss.
