A rescue mission finishes when a stray dog is successfully brought to safety. Sometimes, rescuers save just the one pooch. Other times, however, they miss out on saving their target or one of its companions, but their persistence always drives them to go back and try again.

Eldad Hagar and Loreta Frankonyte experienced this when they rescued Everest, a homeless Newfoundland. A neighbor told them that he had a brother, but during that time, they didn’t find him. The rescuers left after securing Everest but didn’t give up hope on saving his brother too.

So when the call came from a neighbor that Everest’s brother returned, the rescuers immediately went back to the location to save him. They enlisted the help of two sisters who gained the dog’s trust, Jacqueline and Janet. The sisters fed the pooch frequently, so it is comfortable with them.

Eldad instructed Jacqueline to lead the dog, which they decided to name Fuji into a yard so he’d be easier to catch. The rescuers realized that Fuji is an Akita, a large dog breed similar to a Newfoundland. Once Fuji entered the yard, Loreta closed the gate, cutting off his escape route.

Scared, Fuji tried to find another way out. After circling the yard, Janet gently stopped Fuji. Loreta then secured him with a Lucky Leash.

After getting separated from Everest, Fuji found a fellow stray Golden Retriever as a companion. A couple of minutes after the rescuers saved Fuji, they saw his friend appear. With Jacqueline’s help, they quickly got a Lucky Leash on the other dog as well.

The rescuers decided to name the Golden Retriever Tai. They then brought both dogs to the hospital for medical care. Fuji had the ticks and fleas that infested his fur removed, while Tai had a tumor taken off as well as treatment for demodectic mange.

After getting medically cleared, Fuji and Tai parted ways. Fuji reunited with his brother Everest as the same family adopted him. Tai found his brother Champ and happily settled with his forever family as well.
