It was the end of Arianna Pomo’s shift when this cute white puppy came into the shelter. The puppy had wounds on her face. They did not know the cause of the scars but knew that the puppy could not stay in the shelter.
There’s a possibility that it could be contagious. They did not want the other dogs to get whatever condition the puppy had. Arianna Pomo was more than happy to bring the puppy home with her. In the first week, the dog that she named Joan Jet would only sleep on her chest and nowhere else.
As the days passed, Joan Jet’s personality started to show. She’s a fun-loving dog who loves to play. Arianna thought her worry was only Joan Jet’s face wounds. Then another challenge arrived.
A rash started developing on Joan Jet’s face, and they found out that it was non-contagious mange.
Arianna noticed something else too. She just felt that something was off, and she wanted to see if her hunches were correct. She would call on Joan Jet, and the dog would not even flinch. She would bang the door hard and still no response from Joan Jet.
When how she discovered that Joan Jet was deaf. Joan Jet foster mom, Arianna, trained her differently from the others. Arianna taught Joan Jet to understand hand cues.
Joan Jet is a very fast learner, and Arianna is very proud of her. Joan Jet needs a family who is patient enough to learn the cues that she just learned. This will help them communicate.
Joan Jet is a fantastic dog, and she will do well with other kids. She will also be a great running partner because she will always be there at your side.
