Max was brought in to the vet by her mom Ursula. Ursula’s daughter also accompanied them. They’ve brought him to the clinic because he had a lump on his head.
There has been no trauma before it developed. Ursula and her family noticed that the lump was getting bigger and bigger. It was as big as a baseball.
Max is very spoiled. This dog would sleep on his mom’s bed, and his mom won’t mind. That’s why Ursula wants to make sure that Max gets the best care possible.
Dr. Jeff checked Max and informed Ursula that it could be a lipoma. A lipoma is a benign mass that is filled with fats.
Dr. Jeff would have to do an incision and see that it actually is a lipoma. Dr. Jeff and his team prepped Max for the surgery. They also took his blood work. Being twelve years old makes him a high-risk patient. The medical team needs to see his organ functions.
They need to check that his organs are strong enough to be under anesthesia. When Dr. Jeff started the operation, the best case possible would be for Dr. Jeff to see fats. It would be the first thing that the doctor will see during the incision. There were no fats.
Unfortunately, it was not what they wanted to see. Max has a soft tissue sarcoma, and it is a very aggressive tumor. It has gone very deep in Max’s eye, and they are unable to remove all of it.
Dr. Jeff informed Ursula and her daughter about his findings. He asked if they wanted Max to undergo chemotherapy. They refused. They want him to live the rest of his life as happy as he could be.
They want to spoil him more than they did before. They just want him to enjoy the years or months that he has left.
