When we’re used to being in the company of certain people, we get butterflies in our stomach the moment they leave. Sometimes, we aren’t even aware we’d experience this since we don’t think that much about their departure. The only time it hits us is when we look around the room and the familiar faces are no longer there.

The thing about this butterflies-in-the-stomach bit is that it also happens even if the “separation” won’t last for a long time. We miss certain people deeply even if they just went on a quick trip to the supermarket. Suffice to say, the anxiety we feel has little to do with the length of time they’ll be away from us.

You’d be surprised to know that our dear four-legged buddies experience this too. Such is the case of Toby, an adorable dog from Peru. He’s struggling with separation anxiety, and he absolutely hates it when his fur dad leaves him.

Balcony duty

Toby would rush to the balcony the moment his favorite human sets foot outside the house (see below). He would then stare at the distance and let out lengthy, heartbreaking howls from time to time. He would stay glued to that spot and wait, ever so patiently, for his human to come home.

The canine’s waiting time would sometimes last for hours. There are also instances when he’d end up waiting after the sun had already set. All that wait can be infuriating, but not for Toby. He doesn’t mind staying on the balcony until nightfall because the only thing that matters to him is seeing his fur dad again.

Daddy’s home

Toby goes back to being the happy and energetic dog that he is the moment he sees his human again. He’d rush downstairs and shower his fur dad with lots of warm hugs and wet kisses to welcome him home.
