Alex Siggins is an Army veteran that lives in Santa Clarita, California. His home is near a hilly area with the bottom lined up with thick and thorny bushes. This would be the site where he would make a rescue that would put him on the news.

Aggressive coyotes

Alex and his three small kids were outside their house one day. He was watching over them as they were playing. Then suddenly, they heard wild animal noises coming from the hilly area behind their property. They turned around and saw a white dog being attacked by a pack of wild coyotes.

The dog was completely overwhelmed by the wild creatures who were attacking from all sides. One of them violently headbutted the poor pooch, who then started tumbling down the hillside. The dog stopped when a thorny brush cushioned her fall.

The small kids felt bad for the dog and started crying. They saw how vicious the wild animals were, and they felt scared. Alex, on the other hand, felt right away that he needed to help the injured pup.

The army veteran, who was barefoot at that time, quickly went to the area. When he was near, he darted towards the pup and grabbed her by the scruff. His presence did not deter the coyotes. They still tried to come near them. But when they got near his property, the pack backed off and returned to the hill.

Reunited with family

Aside from minor scratches, an injured paw, and dehydration, the dog was fine. Alex searched for the dog’s owner and came across a flyer for a missing dog. As it turned out, the dog he rescued is a five-year-old Shiba Inu named Umi, and she has been missing for two days.

He got in touch with the owners, and they were so grateful for the veteran’s bravery and kindness.
