Many people enjoy reading stories about dog rescues, and who can blame them? However, this dog rescue story is possibly the most unique you will ever read. This is because the dog in this story has a unique heroine. It was a mother cat that has only recently met him.
Noland the pitbull puppy and Lolaine the cat have a pleasant story to tell. Noland was discovered on the streets by the Cleveland Animal Protective League (APL). His mother abandoned him. We are all aware that a puppy that can hardly walk and has its eyes closed requires its mother to survive.
This created a dilemma for the Cleveland Animal Protection League, as they had no idea where Noland’s mother was and their shelter was currently without mother dogs. They do, however, have a cat who gave birth two days before they discovered Noland.
In a desperate attempt to find a solution, the APL crew conducted a small experiment.
They put Noland to Lolaine to gauge her reaction. Initially, the mother cat began sniffing Noland. Then she licked his face and nuzzled him to clean him up. The APL staff realized at this moment that their strategy was succeeding. Thus, they let Noland stay with Lolaine, and the cat nursed and cradled the puppy.
The staff stated that they are unsure whether the two animals recognized their differences. However, Lolaine’s maternal instincts are on high alert following the birth of a litter of kittens and this is a fortunate break for Noland.
Noland would have no hope of growing up well without Lolaine’s assistance. The APL team is also feeding the pittie frequently since they recognize that Noland’s nutritional requirements are far greater than those of Lolaine’s kittens.
