Have you ever heard about the “one-dog recycling machine”? It is a dog which has an unusual habit and it went viral on social media.

Her name is Paris, a 9-year-old boxer dog from Bodmin, Cornwall. Paris has an unusual habit of collecting plastic bottles, aluminum cans and any piece of litter every time she goes out for a walk with her guardian.

Fran Hodges, a 51-year-old woman and owner of Paris, dubbed her pet as a “one-dog recycling machine” after finding out its ability to collect recyclable materials and put them in the right bins. Paris cares for our environment unlike those people who are littering everywhere they go.

Common dogs often misbehave when released outside. They ransack trash bins, gnaw on footwear and also cause some disturbances. But Paris makes a difference, her unusual habit was evidence that dogs can develop certain characteristics that can be both beneficial to the environment and to human beings.

Boxer dogs like Paris are known for their energy and their intelligence, calm and loyal characteristics. Some people say that the characteristics of a dog depends on its breed – but not always. Because I believe in the saying that “a dog’s behavior is the reflection of its owner”.

Dogs develop their behavior through environment and the influence of the people surrounding them. As for Fran Hodges, she set a good example to her pet which resulted in the unusual yet good habit of Paris. We should lead our dogs to learn good traits without forcing them to have such.

Paris is a reminder to all of us that we need to love our environment thru segregation of trash – from biodegradable to non-biodegradable. We should also collect trash that can be recycled. Nowadays, some dogs more often show unique characteristics that most people must have and they act more humane than we do.
