On the 24th of April, 2020, the heavens decided to bless the world with a lovely Golden Retriever named Augie. She was born into a beautiful home and a loving family. Things were going smoothly, but then fate decided to add a twist to her story.

She had only been staying with her family for a few years when they decided to give her away. Those who agreed to take her in were quick to abandon her as well. The only time this pattern ended was when she was already 14 years old.

A loving home for the Golden Retriever

Augie had long been living in a shelter when she met her forever family. The volunteers working at the shelter were unsure at first if she was ever going to be adopted since senior dogs always get picked last. They were all teary-eyed when a couple walked in and decided to bring Augie home with them.

A lot of people questioned why they chose the senior Golden Retriever. For them, the answer was simple: they wanted to make Augie’s final years on this planet memorable. Adopting the senior fluff ball was the only way they could make that happen.

Making history

The couple did not expect Augie to make history and become the first Golden Retriever to reach the age of 20. They were over the moon when this happened that they threw a special party for her. They made her a banner, whipped up a delicious cake, and invited all of her friends over.

People gushed over how beautiful Augie looked on her birthday. She spent most of the time lying on the ground, but they could feel how happy she was to see them. She lifted her head each time someone approached her to give her a gentle pat on the head or a nice belly rub. Know more about Augie’s story on the video below:
